Grok builds a parametric flange
Named parameters first, then sketch geometry, then a rebuild that carries the change through the whole part. Watch the left pane: the feature tree grows as the model is driven from the chat on the right, and the bore is widened and the flange thickened part-way through to show the parameters actually holding.
- Task
- From a single prompt, model a parametric flange in a live, unstaged desktop SolidWorks session — narrated by Grok as it works.
- Parameters
- Grok defines the governing dimensions — including bore diameter and flange thickness — as named parameters before drawing any geometry, so later edits drive the part instead of redrawing it.
- Workflow
- Three stages, visible in the feature tree as they happen: named parameters created, sketch geometry built from them, then features extruded and the part rebuilt from the sketch.
- Result
- Part-way through, Grok widens the bore and thickens the flange by changing the named parameters, and SolidWorks rebuilds the whole part from that one edit — the way it would for a designer's own parametric change.
- Limitations
- Every CAD operation runs at normal speed; only the model's thinking/typing pauses are sped up, and the recording marks those on screen. One platform (desktop SolidWorks) and one connector (ForgeMCP) — not a cross-platform benchmark.
